New to Faith Lutheran Church?
Here is some information you might find helpful.
About Us
As Lutheran Christians, associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), we are a congregation that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe that being part of the community of Christ was not meant to be an individual experience. We need each other.
Worship is like a weekly check-in. It is a time to hear the word of God, to be fed through communion, be washed in the waters of baptism, join in singing and praise, and find connection with God through prayer.
Worship gives us a chance to remember the one who has created us and all that exists. In worship, we are reminded of our identity as precious and beloved children of God. This strengthens and nourishes us to engage fully in life outside the church, support each other, and do our part in helping care for our neighbors.
Worship
We alternate standing and sitting during worship, usually standing for hymns and prayers. The arrow that appears in the first line of the slides projected on the screen at the front of the church provides direction as to whether we sit or stand along with most everything else you need: litanies, songs, prayers, etc. Pastor will also usually guide you. Words in bold are spoken by the congregation. If you prefer to see music when you sing, use the cranberry-colored hymnal in the pew.
Worship times are Sundays at 10 a.m.
Communion Is God’s Meal of Forgiveness
Everyone is welcome to receive communion. Come up the aisle toward the altar. Pastor will hand you the bread/wafer. Gluten-free wafers are available; tell Pastor when you approach. As you are chewing the wafer, take a cup of wine or alcohol-free juice (light in color in center). Deposit your empty cup in the basket off to the side and return to your seat down the side aisles.
Children who receive communion in their home church are welcome to receive communion here; have them hold out their hands so Pastor Shawn knows to give them the wafer. Otherwise, they will receive a blessing.
The Building
The church is laid out a bit like a racetrack with seating in the middle with the fellowship hall, a library, and classrooms around the outer perimeter. There are bathrooms near the fellowship hall to the left as you enter as well as three bathrooms near the classrooms in the back, one of which has a shower and diaper changing station; feel free to use the door of the sanctuary nearest the family worship area to access the back hall bathrooms.
